1.- We begin a new year with energy. After removing the Christmas decorations, our staff has been primarily dedicated to pruning the plants in our gardens. This task is essential for our plants to thrive. Proper pruning is a true guarantee of health and well-being. Only through this work can we promote proper growth or even flowering.
On the other hand, we remind you that pruning waste must be deposited in the designated disposal area located behind the EUC office at Calle Monteparaiso No. 6. This area is exclusively for pruning waste from the Sitio de Calahonda community and is available from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM. It is strictly forbidden to dump pruning waste in green areas, streams, pavements or any other unauthorised locations.
2.- 2.- We will soon carry out a detailed inspection of our green areas to comply with the fire protection plan. Dry grass and branches in poor condition will be removed, and as every year, we will request the Town Hall to inspect the riverbanks under its jurisdiction. However, we continuously monitor these green areas throughout the year, as there are always incidents to address, such as fallen trees, illegal dumping, etc.
3.- The Sitio de Calahonda urbanisation is one of the largest in Mijas, with many kilometers of streets that require constant maintenance. One of our main tasks is repairing manhole covers under our jurisdiction and requesting the repair of those that are not, mainly from water and telephone/fiber optic companies. However, the EUC marks them to minimise risks until they are fixed.
On the other hand, the license plate recognition cameras have already been activated, and the corresponding warning signs have been installed. Regarding traffic signs, these fall under the responsibility of the Town Hall. The EUC inspects them and requests their replacement when necessary. Additionally, upon residents’ requests or when a need is detected, new signs are requested. This month, we have experienced some vandalism in the form of graffiti, and the EUC has taken care of its removal.
4.- As we never tire of repeating, keeping our streets clean is one of the EUC’s most important concerns, and we dedicate a great deal of effort to it. However, with so many kilometers of streets and limited staff, citizen cooperation is essential. For example, we still find streets with pet waste, rubbishbags in litter bins, gardeners blowing pruning debris onto the streets, and other practices that do NOT help keep our streets clean.
Please, we kindly ask that if you observe any of these practices, notify the EUC or the security guards on 695 223 964, who will take care of addressing these irresponsible behaviours.
