This year Mijas celebrated the World Environment Day in Sitio de Calahonda, surrounded by nature and in contact with two very outstanding natural environments: our naturalist path in Calahonda Park, and, later, a walk along the Coastal pathway.
From here we want to thank Mijas Town Hall, its Environment Department and especially Juan Luis Vega for the celebration of this day that makes the environmental treasures of the municipality known to neighbours and foreign residents.
The first place visited was the naturalistic path of the park, a green, dense and diverse area of vegetation, which favours the presence of fauna and especially birds. This environment has native vegetation such as pine trees, oak trees, an undergrowth, as well as a many eucalyptus trees next to the stream.
After the walk, the tour continued along the Coastal Pathway, a short route to La Luna beach, to enjoy a coastal environment, which has a sandy area that preserves a good biodiversity of flora and fauna. (Part of the text is an extract from a Mijas Comunicación newsletter).
