During the summer season a large amount of waste is generated that too often are not properly deposited and our container areas are then surrounded with all kinds of furniture, debris, etc …
The EUC Sitio de Calahonda has been struggling with this every summer, however the container areas are of municipal competence. This year, at the beginning of the summer, we had a meeting with the service concessionaire company to collaborate and try to keep our points as good as possible. To this effect, our security company prepares a list of the incidents detected at each point (abandoned furniture, debris, full containers, etc …) and we send them daily to the Lineaverde App and Urbaser so they can solve the issues as soon as possible.
In addition, the Mijas Town Hall, through the Local Police, has launched this week a special device for the control of the cleanliness on public roads.
The campaign will thus penalize people who misuse the containers enabled for depositing rubbish on the street, with fines that could reach 3,000 euros in the case of very serious infractions, or 1500 euros in the case of serious infractions, which would include the dumping of rubbish on public roads that obstruct the normal transit or generate a health hazard, as well as the deposit of rubbish bags outside the containers provided by the Town Hall, amongst others.
The agents will visit at different times of the day the most conflictive points detected in recent months with the aim of producing a deterrent effect, and not a collection process, in view of the anti-social behaviour that translates into dirt in the streets of Mijas and that harm other residents and visitors.
From the Town Hall they inform that the timetable for depositing rubbish in all the municipality is from 20:00 to 00:00 hours, and that the neighbours also have available the telephone 952 66 68 66 to arrange collection of larger items, which must be deposited at the rubbish collection point closest to home.
